Celebrating 50 years
So today we got together as the complete VanderHeide family for the first time in 20 years! Such a blessing to be together. And we did it in style - at the Links Buffet Restaurant. It took us a while to get organised to get there. We had to be there at 11 for family photos, so getting organised was quite the feat with one small bathroom (which houses the toilet as well), lots of girls, late rising because we are still adjusting to the time zone changes, and then contending with a husband/father who decided that we'd had the generator on for long enough (You see, we have solar power here with a back-up generator, so when the power - battery stored too - runs out, we need to connect the generator). Anyway, said male decided enough was enough and turned it off, except Shiana was half-way through curling her hair, Ashlyn hadn't begun her hair, a bunch of us hadn't brushed our teeth (and there's no water without power - rain water needs the pump), so you should have heard the outcry! Didn't take long for Andrew to backtrack and the power was soon back on. Don't think he'll be trying that tomorrow morning, being Sunday and all :). Anyway, here's a few phone photos from our lunch!
Post lunch meant Lucas headed to Grandpa and Grandma's for a little while, and a trip through the central mall for most of the rest of us, and a drive around and petrol-fill-up for Andrew while Kyla slept in the car.
Anyway, back to handwashing for me. Doing another load tonight since it's Sunday tomorrow and I don't think I can face too much handwashing on Monday morning especially as Monday promises to be a full day!

Sounds like quite the drama getting ready in the morning. Nice you could all get together as family!
ReplyDeleteGood move Andrew. I could just imagine that you would have enjoyed turning off the generator. So is your brother Stewart in Tassie too?
ReplyDeleteYep, he is!
DeleteMust have been quite a drama this morning. So nice, especially for dad and mum to have all of you together. Your wedding must have been the last time that you were all together, and that was without any grand kids.
