Celebrating 50 years

Image
So today we got together as the complete VanderHeide family for the first time in 20 years!  Such a blessing to be together. And we did it in style - at the Links Buffet Restaurant.  It took us a while to get organised to get there.  We had to be there at 11 for family photos, so getting organised was quite the feat with one small bathroom (which houses the toilet as well), lots of girls, late rising because we are still adjusting to the time zone changes, and then contending with a husband/father who decided that we'd had the generator on for long enough (You see, we have solar power here with a back-up generator, so when the power - battery stored too - runs out, we need to connect the generator).  Anyway, said male decided enough was enough and turned it off, except Shiana was half-way through curling her hair, Ashlyn hadn't begun her hair, a bunch of us hadn't brushed our teeth (and there's  no water without power - rain water needs the pump), so you should...

Silly blogger app

So the silly android app won't let me post more than one photo on certain formats. Driving me crazy, bit just doing it through a web page now. Here are some more photos from today.

Tasmania zoo

Sleep-in first...well after most of us didn't fall asleep till after midnight, I think we deserved a lazy start to the day.  Thankfully both Lucas and Kyla slept really well after they fell sleep at about 1030pm!  They slept so well that their snoring kept the others awaks and Kirilee ended up giving up and crashing on living room couch! So after a lazy start and a load of hand-washing (no washing machine here so I figure a hand-load a day should do it) we headed to Dad and Mum's for a coffee break (greatly needed after the hand washing, except tea sufficed for me :)).  Then, after stopping at the supermarket to buy some bits and pieces for lunch, we headed to the Tasmania zoo. Sure, less fancy than those big zoos like the Perth one, but so much better to see the animals in.  The lions and monkeys especially were awesome! Headed back to the supermarked to stock up for the weekend, and to a secondhand store to find a jumper for Lucas (yep, forgot one of those for th...

We've arrived

Image
Yea. We've arrived. Through Adelaide and Melbourne. Not great mobile reception here. But the cottage is, well, much nicer than a cottage. And we have space and a dam to swim in. And ants that bite (Kirilee already found that out because she didn't listen about wearing shoes.) And we were spoilt with so many goodies. And blessed with such a smooth journey here. So we're very thankful. Goodnight!!!
